Love George Carlin. If you’re referring to Syria, wow, I have a really big book full of conflicting opinions and emotions about that one. How long have you got?

Yes,… I was talking about Syria. I just reject the thought of dropping bombs to address an issue. That’s the thinking that has to change in this country.
If you’ve noticed though, the republicans aren’t on board like they usually are for the military response. Some of them are worried about spending money on war, for Christ’s sake!!
And doesn’t that just show that if Obama suggests or wants it to happen, that the idiot conservatives will simply go the other way.
What are you thinking? Why are you conflicted.

I agree that we need a new paradigm for the world, and that as a species we simply have not evolved. We use violence to deal with so many situations from the personal to the global. It’s despicable. As for Syria, that old question surfaces for me again: Do we have a moral imperative to stop a tyrant from using MORE chemical weapons on innocent people, or do we just stand by like we’ve done so many times before – until, we are compelled to act? I think of Bosnia and the atrocious sexual assaults on women that became a crucial tactic in the war, and how long Clinton stood by without taking any measures to stop it. If I was a woman in the Balkans I would have gladly had someone intervene, quickly. I’ve always been against war, but what happened in the Balkans changed my mind. Our foreign policy has nothing to do with morals, it has to do with militarily strategic planning to protect our interests, resource-grabbing, and dominance. We jump in when our “interests” are threatened and stand by when they’re not. It’s despicable. And yes, the Republicans are a very bad joke. Posturing for re-election, pure and simple. I’m sickened by all of it. Putin (that slimy bastard), Syria, our Congressional Cold War here at home, the Egyptian morass that also threatens to drag us in… And all of it is down to humanity’s inability to solve their problems peaceably, with respect for everyone concerned. So, what do you think? 🙂
